How to Work Hard with Ease

“Ease” does not mean easy.  However, we can work hard with “ease” on a project we love or even one we’re not real crazy about.  Here is a simple plan for living a life of ease:

“Ease comes when we take small, steady steps toward our goals.”

The opposite of ease is struggle.  When we dance with our doubts, worries and fears rather than shifting our attention to our goals, dreams and contribution, we struggle.  We sit by the side of the road, waiting for our psychological condition to clear up, and life starts to pass us by.

This is not a new train of thought by any means.  The teaching that we become what we think about has been around for ages.  However, given that life is very unpredictable, things are changing all the time and it takes a great deal of effort to get anything done, it is easy to get caught up in our doubts, worries and fears.  Pretty soon, without even realizing it, we are contributing to the level of difficulty by our thoughts!

Living a life of ease is a decision we make every day, sometimes several times a day.  We have two answers for every situation in life – “Yes” and “Yes”.  We can say “Yes” to thinking about our doubts, worries and fears or “Yes” to thinking about our goals, dreams and contribution.  Whichever one we chose is the one we will take action on.  It’s as simple as that.

When the last time you did something that took a great deal of effort, but the time just flew by because you loved what you were doing?  A time you ventured a little further than you normally would in going for a dream – with a sense of elegance instead of struggle?  Notice what you were thinking about at the time.  I’d love to hear about it. –
